Cost of Woman's Cosmetics and Make-up?

Ladies I was curious what do you pay for your make-up and cosmetics? I think it's outrageous that cosmetic manufacturers charge so much and prey on the vanity of young woman to look beautiful and gorgeous. No, I am not doing this because I plan on using any of it, I am not a corss dresser, even though there's nothing wrong with that. I just want to know what do you pay for certain types of make-up you use everyday. Manufacturers names don't have to be listed unless you want to. Have you ever stopped an thought about what you pay each month or each year for your cosmetics? Noen of this information will be used for research or marketing just genral knowledge and curiousity.





Please list the cost and how long does each product last you a month? a year? a week?


Lipgloss-how many colors do you buy during the year and what is the price of each? Other lip products like lip pencils how many types, colors and prices of each.


Blush/Fondation?Concealers? How many different types of each and what is the cost of each product?


Eye Make-up-Eye liner- how many colors do you buy.price each color


Eye shadow-how many different shades or all of these in one package? What is the cost of the kit(s)?


Mascara-how many different colors, types, brands do you use?


Other facial products, like cleansers, exfoliates, cost of each?





Skin care-Body and Skin Mousitioners, Hand creams, foot creams-how many different types? Costs of each.


Nail Care-How mnay nail polish colors do you won? what did you pay for each bottle and how long does it last?


Other nail products-base coat, top coats, nail growth treatments.

Hair care-not shampoo and conditioners but how many hair care products do you use? Moouses, Hot oil treatments, hair gel, hair sprays, etc. Please don't include hair dyes you do yourself, tinting, highlighting you do yourself. Unless you want to incldue these.





I know what your thinking why does this man want to know about what a woman spends on herself to improve her face and skin with make-up? I just would like to know why are these cosmetics so expensive? What does the average woman spend a month or a year on cosmetics that men do not have to spend, the cost comparision I imagine is probably 10-1. lipgloss: i probably buy about 2-3 a month prices ranging from 拢5-17, mainly in different shades of pink with/without shimmer, clear with shimmer, ive got about 60 lipglosses! a lipgloss lasts me agess i dont think ive ever finished one lol but cant help but buy more!





lipstick: hardly ever buy lipstick i have about 5 different colours all cost about 拢7





lipliner: have about 3 different colours they last monthesss cost about 拢3





foundation: lasts me about 5-6monthes, i have 4 different foundations ranging from 拢6-拢26, and one concealer which was 拢5 lasts about 3monthes





eyeliner: i use black liquid eyeliner which lasts about 4monthes costing 拢5 and a double ended black/white pencil which wil last me about a year! cost 拢1.50





i dont use eyeshadow..





mascara: i only use black, have about 7 different ones all for length %26amp; thickness. L'oreal Collagene (拢9), Bourjois Liner Effect(拢8.50), Body Shop Mascara(拢10), L'oreal Telescopic(拢9), Avon Astonishing Lengths (拢7), Models Prefer(拢9.99), Bourjois Ultra Glamour(拢8)





cleansers: have about 4 different cleansers (ranging from 拢4-拢12 and 2 exfoliators (拢6-拢10), toner (拢4.99), 2 eye creams (拢4.50 and 拢6.99), day %26amp; night cream (拢12 each), lip treatment (拢17)





i have about 6 different body lotions/moisturisers ranging in price from 拢5-拢14)





havent counted my nailpolish colours but id say theres more than 40 bottles ive collected over the years, it says use each bottle within a year as it goes thick and gooey after that but i just buy nailpolish thinner (拢5) to make them usable again, then a botle lasts years. each bottle (拢4-拢8) ..topcoat (拢8), basecoat (拢6), cuticle cream (拢4)








hair: hair treatment, box of 5 uses for 拢15, hair straightening serum (拢6), volumizing hair spray (拢4)Cost of Woman's Cosmetics and Make-up?
depends on the woman, high end makeup can be outrageous drugstore brand can be pricey as well. to be honest with u i just steal it lol i dont have that kind of money lol
in the last 2 weeks i've spent nearly 拢300 on make-up, foundation, eyeshadows, pigments, lip gloss, lip glaze etc i actually think they charge way to much for some of their things, like the other day i saw a really nice blue eyeshadow for 拢5 and saw the same colour in a different brand for 拢3 which i dont understand, also it annoys me that mac bring out about three collections in a row, which are expensive, but if you dont buy it and wait then you miss it and have to pay double on ebay for it. companies should charge less, i think they take advantage of us, as we're always looking for the perfect foundation, the perfect mascara and they bring out about three foundations and say they're all great so we all go and buy them.
It's really hard to get an ';average'; idea.





There's a big difference between women who buy makeup because they love it, women who buy makeup to maintain a standard look they have, and then people who buy because they're professionals.





Women who wear the same makeup every day might need to replace it all every 3 months and this could be anywhere from $20 - $200 depending on specifically what brands they favor.





I buy more for fun, and I go through mascara and foundation every 2-3 months (I probably spend about $30 to replace both). But things like eyeshadow and lipstick, I have DOZENS of each, and while I do use up my favorites, the other ones I keep until they get old - between 1 and 3 years depending on the product's shelf life and how hard it is to find. I'd estimate I spend $500-$800 a year on makeup. It's a lot of money, but it's fun. As for how many I buy - other than replacing my favorites, I buy when there's a cool new product or color that I don't have. I could buy 2 lipsticks in 6 months or 20. It depends.





Before you get too outraged at ';preying on vanity,'; again, I do it because it's fun. My husband's Xbox plus a few games cost the same amount, and I can't understand why anyone would pay so much for video games when PacMan is cheap.





Most women would probably spend closer to $200 a year, and could go even cheaper. Again - totally a matter of preference.
Per month probably if the economy wasn't so bad nearly $100. As for eye shadow and eyeliner I prefer MAC cosmetics, sephora, loreal HIP, cover girl, it's whatever with me i don't have a specific type. Blush: $5-10 Mascara $10-12 eyeshadow/eyeliner $20-40 lipgloss 99 cents-8.50 they last a while. Hair, products 5-7 dollars. I just use a creme to put in my hair (sunsilk) They last if you make it last. So overall it would be $100-130 probably more if i had the money only because i am so fond of beauty products lol.
