I want my own cosmetics line....but...Help me?

I want to own a cosmetics line, so i am a biology major at a private liberal arts school and a minor in chemistry.. then i want to go to Fairleigh Dickinson to go to grad school and get a MA in Science with a Concentration in Cosmetics Science but I really want to go to Blanche MacDonald Makeup school in vancouver so that i can work while i am in Grad School( and make some really good contacts)...but i dont know if thats a good idea...what should i do? anybody own a cosmetics line or work in the businessI want my own cosmetics line....but...Help me?
in the cosmetic industry, it is easy to make money because they are cheap to manufacture with the right items and sell fast.


Don't jump into the cosmetic scene right away. first, make home-made cosmetics. the good thing is, anyone can make a cosmetics line, wether you're a small town girl or living in a huge city.





after you make your cosmetics, i advise you to sell them in etsy.com, and small botiques. small stores, and in strip malls.


you must invest a little money into your business too. it must be more than a few hundred dollars. 300 to onethousand is good enough range.





you also must choose which age or type of group to target. for example, teens, race, age, etc. the possibilities are endless, wild makeup, matte, clam makeup, etc.





starting a cosmetics line does not take a lot of ';capital';. capital is anytihng that makes a product. human resources, the machines, money, everything. when making cosmetics, if you buy raw materials from a supplier then you are ready to go. it's that easy.





and if you use a private label manufacturer, you can improve your cosmetics in labs. if you continur to improve you cosmetics, then that means increase is sales and profits :)





and create a catchy name for your makeup line. i even know a makeup brand that is called bitchslap makeup :O





make your makeup for all types of skin and all types of races, follow trends; this can be vital because people most likley won't buy whata is not considered ';in';





and keep in mind that many cosmetic manufacturer use a lot of chemicals that are bad for you. try to use organic supplies in your makeup :)





to make your makeup, you must research that on you own, because you are the one making the makeup. a good , easy way to start is making soaps. but make them interesting, for example, make soaps look like oeros, make them look like cookies, shusi, etc.I want my own cosmetics line....but...Help me?

It's doubtful that someone that high in the line of work would give away their business secrets, but I think you should go for it. You're definitely qualified. Do a bit more research, maybe try calling some big companies like Sephora and doing a survey.
