What does the word ';cosmetics'; mean referring to eBay??? (PLEASE READ)?

I was looking at phones on eBay and a few of them had the word cosmetic in the condition. It would look like the following: The cell phone is in excellent cosmetic and working condition.





Now i know cosmetics refer to like make-up and all that. In this case, what does it mean??? Did the seller make it look better then what it was???





Is it bad to buy phones from those with that condition???

Cosmetics refers to the physical appearance of the phone.
In the context that they have used the word. They are telling you that from the outside the phone looks really good. There isn't any alterations to the product, instead because of good upkeep ';Cosmetically'; you will have no issues with it. The same can be used if it needed some 'Cosmetic'; repair. Meaning..... you will have to repair something you are looking at. Hope this helps.

cosmetic means that the appearance if the item is good. hen it says it is in excellent cosmetic shape it is saying that the look is what it should be and there aren't any scrapes, scratches or dings in it.
cosmetic used in this format refers to the outside condition of the phone. you are probably looking for a phone in excellent or like new cosmetic condition.the seller did not make it look better, so it is fine to purchase a phone in this condition.
I know that it may seem 'weird' that a 'cell phone' has 'cosmetics' ... but that means that it LOOKS NEW and that it also WORKS ... but that should be an 'alarm' going off in your head ... this phone is NOT NEW (it just 'looks new' because it's been 'fixed up') and that it is in 'working condition' but doesn't say how WELL it works ... I wouldn't bid on this phone, but look furher for a good NEW phone ... on a 'regular' website for the phone company, and not on eBay.
This means that the phone is in excellent condition and no it not bad to buy in that condition but really you should buy new if you can afford it.......to make it cosmetically look better the seller may have bought a new accessory case for it
