I was in the nail salon and overheard the the MK rep saying how she needs to bring some of her books in in order to gain more sales. She then tells a story and says that there is one woman who always wants a book but never buys anything. She goes on to say that she refuses to give books to people who dont buy anything and how its selfish to take a book and not purchase!!
Doesnt this ignorant woman know that apart of selling is responding to the customers needs!! There have been plenty of times Ive taken Avon mags and havent bought anything. The point is is that its called advertising and someone is bound to purchase eventually. I think she was very rude and I would not ever purchase anything from her...
How does she expect to sell anything if she barely wants to give out requested catalogs???Mary Kay Cosmetics Rep: The Nerve?
As an ex Mary Kay Consultant, I am in total agreement with Kingair315 and Sandra D. Those catalogs are INDEED too expensive to keep giving them to the same people who know full well that they aren't gonna place an order, but she shouldn't have expressed that in a public place because she will indeed lose clients if she let too many people hear her say that.Mary Kay Cosmetics Rep: The Nerve?
haha.
some people r just weird
That my dear, is what you call a *****. haha
Actually she is correct. The catalogs are expensive, she has to pay for them, and all samples. If you give a catalog to someone three or more times and they do not order, they are highly unlikely to order in the future. You can't keep passing out catalogs at over $1 each (probably more now) to 300-500 (average # of Catalogs) a week (part time to full time) and stay in business very long. Even 100 orders a week would not cover the costs.
Even if they do, chances are the order will be smaller than average, and you then have deliver costs added to the expenses. Ninety Five percent of sales, are made to 30% of the customers. By cutting the time spent with those who never buy, you can give more service to the other 30% who deserve good service...
Minimize cost, Maximize Service, and business grows.
It is no different than having someone sit in a Restaurant booth talking and drinking coffee for several hours, who never places an order. Do that and soon the Restaurant would refuse service, and they are justified in doing so... You can not stay in business, unless you profit.
I think her mistake was speaking in a public place not her choice it is entirely up to her how she runs her business and if it hurt potentials sales so be it. I can understand the expense of handing out books I hand out cards which have my website these days most people prefer the web and only mail books to my preferred customers after 4 mailings if they haven't ordered I remove them from the list if they want something they will call me funny how some people get annoyed receiving mail they don't want and other get annoyed not receiving you just can't please everyone.
