What do religions have to say against women enhancing their appearance through cosmetic surgery?

be generous with your opinions. What do religions have to say against women enhancing their appearance through cosmetic surgery?
I believe Jesus performed cosmetic surgery on some of the people that came to Him. Even though He didn't use a scalpel, He just touched them. What do religions have to say against women enhancing their appearance through cosmetic surgery?
It's more than likely not allowed, considering you're changing God's creation just for the sake of being more attractive. Maybe if it was somehow for a health reason, or you had an accident and you want to fix something back up, it could be fine, but cosmetic surgery, for the purpose of making your breasts bigger, or your nose smaller, or anything for beauty reasons is not right.

The only reason that people are so obsessed with the way they look is because of tv and fashion telling people what beauty is. Everyone is beautiful in some way or another, and they can only feel beautiful if they learn to accept themselves the way they are and not want to change it just because they are told what beauty is.

People who have cosmetic surgery do not even look right, because it's not natural!
I know of nowhere in the bible that it is against cosmetic surgery. However, if one is seeking cosmetic surgery for reasons other than medicinal benifits (bad burns, septum issues, etc.) I would want to sit down and talk to them about their self-esteem. God created you the way you are for a reason, and the failure to see that is most likely a result of some external stimulus (ie. bad relationships.) I have a big nose and often think about doing something about it, but then I have to stop and think about why I want to change myself, and realize that my own self view of beauty has come from man's image and mentality (something we find out in the first three chapters of Genesis is broken, for goodness sakes the first thing that happened after Adam and Eve sinned was they became self concious about their appearance, became aware they were naked and to quote scripture ';ashamed';) So, if you are considering cosmetic surgery first seek the root cause of the insecurity.
Most religions predate cosmetic surgery. So you will not find direct religious statements on the subject. Instead you will be told the opinion of those who feel they can speak for their religions.

I will say is yoga cosmetic? It is not surgery i agree but surgery only affects the physical body and creates an temporary illusion of confidence. While yoga works to reshape the body and spirit thus revealing true beauty. While the person may begin for vain motives their vanity is soon turned to a higher level and thus they seek true beauty. They gain peace of mind which is what they truly sought after.

So i would would say no to cosmetic surgery in most cases, since it merely deals with the symptoms and not the problem.

There's something in the Old Testament about altering your body or something like that... its something the Christians like to use against tattoos.

I don't know about Islam, though. I'm guessing altering your appearance doesn't matter in Islam since you're supposed to wear a scarf over your face anyway.
In christianity the book of timothy part one the relevant parts are

'; I also want women to dress modestly with decency and propriety

not with braided hair, gold or pearls or expensive clothes but with good deeds'; Now would not have been cosmetic surgery available

but I am sure that it would be categorised as the same thing and

that women don't need all these things to look beautiful to god that

he judges people through their deeds

The bible in the old testiment espeacially speaks strongly against vanity. Read the book of psalms. This still stands today. Vanity is the most difficult sin to defeat because it is self love and loving something about yourself that God is not interested in. You must ask yourself what God loves about you, and those are the things you should love about yourself. To love yourself more than God or others will lead you down a shakey road. Matthew 22:37... Love thelord with all your heart soul and mind. If you judge your self worth by your appearence then you will be judge accordingly by God. Sorry, Biblically this is truth.
I'll do my best.

Christianity would say that it is vanity to do so

Buddhism.. the path to enlightenment is not about bigger breasts. It's pretty much the opposite (no, not smaller breasts silly... just not worrying about breasts).

Urm..

Greek Mythology?.. Enhancing appearance is desirable.

that's all I got :D
I dunno really i am christian and i dnt really think its gonna condemn them to a fiery hell or anything but i do think its slightly sad and vain and really they are ok as they are i agree it is partially d medias fault

and lots of poor people get low self esteem over looks its very sad its the womans choice really but its the inside dat counts
My religion's got nothing to say about it (Pagan of the eclectic variety). I personally think it's a sad state of affairs that many women are so pathetically obsessed with their looks. Thanks a lot, unrealistic media portrayal of women.
First and foremost I'm not Atheist, I am a wise Spiritual Being! Now, How do you people actually believe in the Bible or in any Religion???? You have to be kidding me. Christianity, Catholicism and basically all other religions are a complete LIE. God is not male, nor female! How can you think God created the Universe? If so who created God???? No sorry honey, Everything has a beginning. Moving along, The universe was not made in 7 days, IMPOSSIBLE, SCIENCE SAYS THE CONTRARY %26amp; SCIENCE DOES NOT LIE. Next, Yes there is intelligent beings in the universe besides us, whoever thinks the contrary is a poor little brainwashed idiot. Next, There's no such thing as hell or heaven BUT there is one Spiritual Realm with different aspects!, it would be rather stupid to think there isn't a Spiritual Realm with all the supernatural things that happen in this world, i.e. ghosts (ive seen them trust me they exist), one thing that does not exist is death! Moving along, God is not a man or a woman, HONESTLY God CANNOT discern Good from Bad, God cannot judge, God cannot see nor hear nor demand anything from anyone, Why? Because God is the Universe. i.e. The Universe CREATED everything including us. Next, Don't you think is rather stupid to come to this earth to live by a book called the bible???? So ';God'; said ';I'm going to create billions and billions of people and have them live by a book that I inspired';......LOL That's a ridiculous idea. ';If they don't they will go to a fiery hell';! LOL SERIOUSLY PEOPLE CAN'T YOU SEE HOW CRAZY THIS IS???? If religion is ';the way';, WHY ON EARTH ARE THERE SO MANY RELIGIONS???? Hint : RELIGION IS MAN MADE, INSPIRED BY STUPIDITY AND IDIOTIC HUMAN BELIEFS, believe that! Conclusion : God does exist but not in the way most people think it does, God cannot discern anything. There is life after death, a Spiritual Existence is real and we go back and forth from it to here, to learn and grow spiritually. Heaven and hell are not real, just one spiritual realm with different aspects some being more pure than others. The bible and religion are for the weak and unwise - Spirituality are for the wise and intelligent.
Someone just asked that.

Gods creations are all beatiful.

I would like more hair smaller nose etc.. but God created me this way and I think he is happy so I am happy.

If a women alters her body to attract men I think that speaks for itself.

What religion are you asking about?
The Bible tells us to ';live IN the world, but not OF the world.'; Spending money on unnecessary surgery to ';enhance'; something, is clearly worldly and self-centered.

Love,

Yehudi
well, in islam some women are beaten by the religious police just for not covering up their heads, so I would assume a breast enlargement would be out the question.
i can only speak for the Abrahamic faiths here, and i'm paraphrasing, but it's something like ';get back in the kitchen';
Personality is more beautiful!
Thank God I don't have one!

If I want to get my boobs fixed next year, I'm going to! And GUILT FREE!
Generous?

Like, fib?

';They kill you on the spot!';
