The cosmetics industry?

This is related to a question I answered a while back about women being obsessed with how they look.

More related to girls that put way too much make up on :P.

It recently occured to me (after a comment by my girlfriend) that if you go into boots, which is one of the biggest and most reputable high street cosmetics outlet. On those 'specialist' counters, where you have (usually a 16yr old school leaver), who is positioned, giving out advice and tips (so gives across the idea to naive shoppers, that they are experts). They are all completely caked in every make up product under the sun.

Giving out the idea that this is how you should be. No wonder so many women go down the cakey clown makeup path if they think that's good advice? Obviously a good way for them to make loads of money.

Surely that would be like a guy dressed in a gourmet chef outfit, in mcdonalds, eating 50 burgers at once, while sitting in the kid's sitting area?

Maybe i'm just looking far too deep into it and finding unreasonable meaning to it but I just wondered if anybody cares or has an opinion on this? :)The cosmetics industry?
You have to understand that we live in something called a 'Capitalist Society' - something I guess you would never have encountered at school ....

This means, for example, that people working for a public company are expected to make profits so they can pay dividends to shareholders ..

Plainly there are a number of ways to make a profit, however one method is to sell over-priced products to people who don't need them .. and such products have to be advertised (by attractive sales staff) since no-one would go looking for them ..

What I'm try to say, really, is 'Consumer Beware' ... business is after you disposable income and those who are most trusting and naive will be parted from their money the fastest ... so are top of the target list .The cosmetics industry?
It was just a ponder... I'm glad somebody answered :) Report Abuse
