Mary Kay Cosmetics - is it worth losing your friends and family over???????

A member of my family sells Mary Kay. She's constantly calling on friends, neighbors, etc... to sell the product and annoys a lot of them in the process. She's even had people tell her to ';LAY OFF'; or else they will never speak to her again. She's even gone to friends' homes to visit, then walks down the street in her friend's neighborhood to meet their neighbors to sell Mary Kay (not carrying product with her). She can't go anywhere without talking about Mary Kay. She had a birthday party for a friend just to advertise her Mary Kay business and wore her Mary Kay pin to a very formal dinner. She practically worships her upline rep and makes her more important than her own family. It breaks my heart to sit here and watch this.

Is Mary Kay worth losing your friends and family over???? Do you know of any stories????Mary Kay Cosmetics - is it worth losing your friends and family over???????
I have a neighbor who sells that stuff...I haven't talked to her in three years...because she never stopped trying to sell the stuff to us even after i told her it was crapola.Mary Kay Cosmetics - is it worth losing your friends and family over???????
it is not MARY KAY, it is her %26amp; her annoying manners, just stop communicating to this person.
no its not thats ridicoulous
One my neighbors was like that. We told her we only buy from Avon. So she switched jobs and became the Avon lady. Then we told her we only buy from Mary Kay.
This is a type of brain washing. I have a cousin who is in a pyramid scheme..much shadier than Mary Kay. He has pissed off his entire family, including his own siblings.

Somehow he thinks if we just listen to the schpeel, we will all become converts and throw our money over. Yeah, right.

I think he has lost money, but he is too ashamed to tell anyone. He even got thrown in jail one night over misunderstanding trying to get some of his marketing materials back.

If I see his name come up on caller id, i make my husband answer it.

Yes, it is bad. I hope she calms down soon. If not, just stay away.
It's not ';Mary Kay'; she is obsessing over, it's her ';job'; that she's obsessing over. She is the equivalent of a workaholic. A Workaholic's job takes over and yes, almost becomes more important than family and friends. Usually the only way they are brought back to reality is when they actually realize that they HAVE lost everybody. Most of them wait until it's too late.

Sounds like everyone has tried to do what they can. Unfortunantly, the only thing left is to let her make her own mistakes.
Why is this any of your business? Ignore her and don't buy the product if you don't like it.
My fiance worked for a company selling their product and it was strictly commission, so we only had a hundred dollars coming in a week while the overheads for fuel and accomodation and such put us in a lot of debt.

Maybe she is being so over the top because she is trying to make enough money to live? Commission only made us desperate; I even sold some of my personal effects on Ebay for money to live off and we were almost evicted from our unit.

Ask her why she's so forceful with her selling. Try and find out from her if its just her being obsessive about her job at the expense of family and friends, or if she's in trouble finacially, as she will probably have had to buy the products first before she can sell them on... (Like with Avon and Nutrimetics here in Australia).

She might be desperate, or she might be just rude and inconsiderate, but you should give her the benifit of the doubt until you can get more of the story.

Good luck, I hope it all works out.
