Free cosmetics giveaway on Jan. 20th due to lawsuit settlement?

I keep reading about this class action settlement which entitles consumers to free cosmetics on January 20th. I read in an article that you are only entitled to redeem them if you purchased cosmetics from a department store between May 1994 and July 2003. Can anyone please tell me how they can verify this? Do we need to bring in a valid receipt? If we didn't purchase any cosmetics within this window, can we still receive any freebies if we go to the stores on Jan 20th?

Also, if we did buy cosmetics within the window mentioned above, do we have to go to the same department store? i.e. if we bought something from Macy's can we go to Dillard's to claim the free item (granted they carry the same brand) or do we have to go back to Macy's?Free cosmetics giveaway on Jan. 20th due to lawsuit settlement?
They technically cannot verify that you purchased cosmetics from a department store between May 1994 and July 2003. I hope you already made your trip to the department stores named on the website with the details: www.cosmeticssettlement.com

You can go to ANY of the department stores and hurry since many strores are out of products and this was a ';while supplies last'; offer. I heard from friends that only the Clinique or Estee Lauder products were left at some stores.

I was able to get a perfume - Boucheron for my item. Good luck and I hope some of you were able to pick up your products this week.Free cosmetics giveaway on Jan. 20th due to lawsuit settlement?
No receipt required. You can go to any of the stores in the class action and just fill out a short survey and you get a free item worth up to $25, they are only giving away certain items. But hey, anything is good.
There's a list of what items you can choose from. You get ONE free item. BUT! You can go to the different stores, and get one from each store. HURRY! I went today, and they were running out of a lot of items.
